Old

By Scott Bailey © 2017

I am nothing to behold
I am weak and I am old
My mind has given up
My body
Was always a schlup

Now should come the switch
The uplifting twist in the tail
But my mind has given up
And once again I fail

Poem a day challenge #303 (Dadda)

Dadda

By Scott Bailey © 2014

I think I have broken my toe
But I am just too tired to know
Stubbed it on a childproof gate
Too tired to see it until too late
But the pain and the weariness melt away
Into warmth when you hear them say
Dadda and they give you a smile
That gives you the strength for the next mile

Poem a day challenge #203 (My Car)

My Car

By Scott Bailey © 2013

One light out
A film of grime
Kicked up from the road
Travelled on
Switches broken
Things won’t turn on
Or off
Squeals and grinds
And groans
Deflation
Thirsty
Dim
My car
And me

Spring in my Step

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Re-springing Your Step.”

Spring in my Step

By Scott Bailey © 2015

Rusty
Is the spring in my step
Lost its purpose
Lacking oil
And energy
Waiting
Coiled
Will it bounce again?
One can hope

OK. So not quite what the prompt asked for but its what sprung into my mind.
